A motor with a known vibration problem was brought to the attention of an RDI service provider. The data acquisition revealed a rocking motor. All bolts on the motor feet and base were tightened and did not improve the condition. Zooming in on the base near one of the back feet brought forth a surprise. The zoomed in video revealed a broken weld, or crack, just behind the rear foot. The weld was repaired and the condition was dramatically improved.

Motion Amplification

Measure movement not visible to the human eye.

Motion Amplification is a proprietary video processing algorithm that detects subtle motion and amplifies that motion to a level visible with the naked eye which enhances the understanding of the components and interrelationships creating the motion.

We utilize standard video technology and a machine grade camera in conjunction with our methods and processing algorithms to extract meaningful data. This technology turns every pixel in the camera into a sensor capable of measuring vibration or motion with high levels of accuracy.

The results lend themselves to a visualization of the motion. We can measure and quantify any structural assets that a camera can see.

We are certified to perform Motion Amplification Analysis by RDI, the company that invented the process:  certificate-broussard-rdi160825b

The equipment used in the process is small and non-intrusive. It can be setup in minutes and the complete process usually takes less than an hour. Take a look at the equipment we use:  product-spec-v4
